We explore the Ladakhi culture through their food, homestays, monasteries, people, roads and much more.

LADAKH MOTORCYCLE ROAD TRIP ITINERARY – HIMALAYAS

DAY 1

Arrive in Delhi

Arrive in Delhi and be met by TurtleTrails at the airport. Drive through the busy streets and bazaars to reach your hotel. Evening drive and sightseeing in Delhi.
DAY 2

Delhi – Leh

Early morning transfer to the airport for flight to Leh, to begin your awaited motorcycle road trip. On arrival check in to the hotel and spend rest of the day relaxing and acclimatising to the high altitude. Visit the Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace if health permits. Overnight in Leh.
DAY 3

Leh and around

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and prepare for a test ride on your motocycle. We take a short ride to get accustomed to the bike and to learn some of the rules of riding in the Indian mountains. Late afternoon return to Leh and overnight in Leh.
DAY 4

Leh- Diskit-Hunder

Prepare yourself for a ride crossing one of the highest motorable passes in the world into Nubra Valley, which lies north of Leh. En route Hunder we visit the moasntery at Diskit. Evening visit to the sand dunes at Hunder and perhaps if your conscience allows, try a camel ride on one of the double hump bacterian camels. Overnight in Hunder.
DAY 5

Hunder-Turtuk-Hunder

Our party rides towards Turtuk this morning. Turtuk is a part of the Balti belt and is home to some of the sweetest and friendliest people on this planet. The ride is smooth and picturesque today and leaves you completely satisfied with the road trip. Return to Hunder by evening and overnight in Hunder.
DAY 6

Hunder-Pangong Tso

Another new route to explore today. Riding by the river Shayok as we depart Nubra Valley to reach the Pangong Lake. Overnight in a comfy camp by the lake.
DAY 7

Pangong-Upshi

Wake up to a beautiful view of the Pangong Lake. The Pangong lake lies on the border of India and China occupied Tibet. A third of the lake lies in India and the other part in China. It is possibly one of the most beautiful high altitude salt water lakes and possibly another high point in your motorcycle road trip of Himalayas.
Depart from Pangong for Upshi where we spend the night in a small homestay.
DAY 8

Upshi-Tso Moriri

Going south east of Upshi we arrive through some cool off roads to Tso Moriri. Overnight by the lake at a deluxe camp.
DAY 9

Tso Moriri-Tso Kar-Leh

An early start today to drive out of Tso Moriri towards another lake. Passing through tarmac roads, broken roads and muddy roads we reach Tso Kar. Tso Kar in the Changthang region is an area where the Changpa nomads thrive. Continue onwards towards Leh. Overnight in Leh.
DAY 10

Leh-Nimmu-Leh

Lunch at a beautiful old Ladakhi House that has been turned into a boutique homestay now. If mood permits we ride on for little bit longer towards Chilling or return to Leh. It is an open day today. Overnight in Leh.
DAY 11

Leh-Delhi – International Airport

Early morning transfer to the airport for flight to Delhi. Transfer to IGI as per flight times. End of your amazing motorcycle road trip in India.
